2.2.1 Different Ways of Monitoring

You can monitor the mathlm process in three ways.

• Log server messages to stdout, using the option -foreground to keep mathlm in the foreground.
• Log server messages to a specific file using the option -logfile file.
• Review a detailed listing of what licenses are checked out and by which clients at any given time, using the application MonitorLM.

The log file records server messages as they occur, building up a detailed record of license activity over a period of time. MonitorLM, on the other hand, gives you a snapshot of license activity at a specific time.
